The SC Group is helmed by David Jackson and Shauna Shapiro Jackson, with Showcase Entertainment being a member of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA). The SC Group produces and distributes film and television series, attends the major film and television markets each year, has an excellent line up of product and maintains exceptionally strong, ongoing relationships with the leading distributors worldwide.
Over the last twenty years, we have successfully marketed and licensed over three hundred feature films as well as television series throughout the world in all media. Our product line includes the recently produced "You May Not Kiss The Bride" starring Katharine McPhee, Rob Schneider, Kathy Bates, Mena Suvari and Vinnie Jones and the hit television series "Flight 29 Down" for NBC/Discovery Kids and "The Wannabes" currently airing on Starz. David Jackson and Shauna Shapiro Jackson were previously the co-founders of the worldwide distribution company, Curb/Esquire Films (currently Curb Communications), where they also served as President and Executive Vice President, respectively. Further, they served as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Production and Acquisitions, respectively, of Curb/Musifilm whose partners included Universal Pictures. Amongst other things, Curb/Musifilm developed and co-produced "sex, lies and videotape," which won the Cannes Film Festival for Best Picture (the Palme D'Or).
David and Shauna have also been involved in production for the past 20 years. They initially produced several films for RCA/Columbia (ultimately Columbia/Tristar) with Morgan Mason ("sex, lies and videotape"), John Hardy ("Ocean's Eleven," "Erin Brockovich") and Jason Clark ("Stuart Little"). Most recently they produced the feature film "You May Not Kiss The Bride," Executive Produced the TV series "Flight 29 Down" for NBC/Discovery Kids and were instrumental in helping the producers of "The Wannabes" get their hit TV show made.
Further, both David and Shauna are attorneys specializing in the area of Entertainment. Prior to establishing and building Curb/Esquire Films, David served as an attorney at Capitol Records and was then recruited by MCA Records where he served as the Vice President of Business Affairs. Thereafter, David went into the private practice of law where he represented recording artists, record and film producers and film distribution companies. Shauna began her career as an in-house attorney for a production/distribution company where she dealt in all aspects of film production and distribution, and where she first established her strong relationships in the international film community.
Accordingly, our team is helmed by seasoned executives with excellent reputations and relationships and who are astute at negotiating deals on the producer's behalf. Further, acquisitions are helmed by Cara Shapiro, a Canadian native with a distinctive eye for quality, yet commercial, films who has been with the company virtually since its inception and has been responsible for acquiring many of the company's top selling features. Executive Director of Acquisitions, Lori Doherty Bee, comes from the production world ("Sex and the City," "Entourage," "Shameless") and Gayle Sherman Hooker, Director of Acquisitions, comes from the world of production and development having worked with such producers as Sherry Lansing and Academy Award winning director William Friedkin. IFTA and international sales veteran Leslee Allmon oversees all aspects of delivery. Her many years of experience in distribution and her relationships with the top buyers worldwide help to set us apart from other independents. Linda Paolucci, Sales Administration and Market Coordinator, has been with our team for the past 11 years and coordinates all matters relating to each film and television market. Industry veteran Paula Marshall heads the finance and worldwide collections department. Music industry veteran Barbara Gingrich Spiegel heads Showcase's newly formed Reality/Factual Entertainment division. Katie Stephenson Dodson is also a music industry veteran, comes from the world of public relations and heads our Nashville affiliate office.
